This is the website for the Columbia River Chapter of AFIO, The Association of Former Intelligence Officers.

The Association of Former Intelligence Officers is a non-profit, non-political, educational association for current and former intelligence professionals and supporters of the US intelligence community.

The mission of the AFIO Columbia River chapter is to foster public, professional, and academic understanding of the role of intelligence in US policy-making, diplomacy, security, and defense. We accomplish this mission by highlighting intelligence-related resources, literature, and web links; sponsoring public presentations on national security and intelligence issues; nurturing student interest in careers in the intelligence community; and promoting academic interest in developing and teaching relevant curriculum in local schools and universities. We also facilitate public understanding of the importance of counterintelligence and security against foreign political, economic, and technological espionage, including the role of cybersecurity in protecting networks, devices, and data from unauthorized access or criminal use.

Membership in the national AFIO organization is required before joining this chapter. That said, most of the chapter’s events are open to the public and, as a 501(c)(4) organization, are free of charge. Meeting dates, times, and locations are in emails sent to members.
